There is a nice flow between the cameras and the networking equipment. There is zero config needed for the cameras. Just plug in and click adopt in the Unifi app. Sure there are better cameras and you can use open source software to run your NVR. But the simplicity of the whole Unifi ecosystem is worth every penny.
Maybe. If you use VLANs to separate networks (perhaps IOT, servers, and user-machines), it's a whole lot easier to set up and maintain in a pure Unifi environment. If you like having pretty pictures in your network console, and having one place to see status and do firmware upgrades, it's kind of nice to have it all Unifi.Hello! The UDM-Pro was shut down and the UDR took it's place for six weeks. The UDR internet speed was max 650 Mbps on a 1 Gbps connection, on WiFi I could reach 600 Mbps - when using the UDM-Pro and the same AP's I got WiFi 700 Mbps. The UDR was stable and did a good job, in real life testing I could not feel the difference between WiFi 600 and 700 Mbps.

Ubiquiti is for people that have a lot of money to throw and looking for easier application, but ultimately they are getting locked into their eco-system, just like Apple does. I am not saying they are not good but there are cheaper alternatives. Look for Mikrotik (not for novices), TP Link, etc. Reply reply.
OK, so a few considerations. Ubiquiti has a very limited return policy. 14 days for open product, 30 days for unopened product. If you can use them at the apartment right now, then it may be worth it, otherwise wait until you're at least close to the spot where you have internet coming into the house. Something in the Intel chipset driver package was needed apparently. Also a separate Java installation, as in going to their site, downloading it, and installing it. The Unifi Server software comes with all the Java stuff you need. So, if you get the port 8080 is being used issue maybe try updating the chipset drivers, worked for me at least.
